UKIP Wealden

Welcome to the website of UKIP Wealden Constituency Branch
  Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Wealden

UKIP Wealden thanks all of the 3,319 people who voted for us in the General Election - a rise of over 50%.  We got 6.04% of the vote, one of the best results in the South East, and well within the best 10% of UKIP results in the 560 seats contested nationally.

There was a very positive attitude towards  us on the streets and at the public meetings we attended, and we feel that there is everything to play for in the future.

Thank you very much.

DAN DOCKER

 I am 46 years old and married to Julie.  We have four children aged between 15 and 24, all of whom have been educated locally within the state school system.  We have lived near Uckfield for most of the past 13 years. We believe that Wealden is special.

Following 7 years in the Army (The Parachute Regiment), I worked for 4 years in the manufacturing industry, and as a postman.  For most of the past 16 years I have been in the tree care profession.  I am currently the tree officer for a local council.

My interests include mountain walking, running, natural history, going to football matches, and generally being outdoors.  I play an active part in my local community.

I have been a member of UKIP for nearly 10 years because I believe that the best people to govern Britain are the British people themselves.  I have chosen to stand for UKIP at the General Election because I am outraged that none of the three other main parties will tell the electorate the truth about European Union (EU) influence on our lives – and yet still they expect us to vote for  them.

EU membership and legislation is, amongst other things:

·         Hamstringing our ability to recover from recession;

·         Causing strain on our services and changing our way of life through mass immigration because we have handed over control of our borders;

·         Causing the disruption of our postal service and closure of post offices;

·         Adding to our military losses in operations abroad because so much of the defence budget is tied up in expensive EU procurement policies.

It is only by taking back control of our national policies that we will be able to have a real impact here in Wealden, by being able to decide locally what needs to be done.

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) believes in maintaining the UK as an independent nation state.Ever wondered why the policies of the three other major parties are so much alike? It is because over 70% of our laws are now made by the EU.  Labour, the Conservatives and the LibDems are all fighting over the ‘centre ground’ – in other words squabbling over whom should be the British face of the real government, which now resides in Brussels.  Parliament has little say in how our country is run.  Successive Conservative and Labour Governments have given our independence away.  The Lisbon Treaty is the biggest sell out of all.

Membership of the EU costs Britain at least £40 million pounds (and rising) per day in direct costs, and a minimum £1 billion per week (net) when indirect costs are included.  Imagine how we could better spend that money ourselves.  Imagine how quickly, with that money and the freedom to make our own policies, we could set about making a real recovery from recession.

UKIP is the only party with policies that can make a positive difference.  We think in terms of an independent Britain in the global economy, not a Britain paying to be in an EU straightjacket.  We have a full range of policies to revitalise Britain.  We would for instance:

·         Begin the process of leaving the EU, so that we can trade freely and globally;

·         Freeze immigration for 5 years (other than for the most genuine of reasons);

·         Simplify the tax system, bringing in a flat tax for those earning over £11,500 a year (no income tax below that level), and abolish Inheritance Tax.

·         Introduce Direct Democracy (binding referendums on important issues)

It all starts with leaving the EU.  We know where Labour and the LibDems stand.  David Cameron has shown where the Conservatives stand once and for all by denying us a Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty (the new EU constitution).  We can’t trust any of these parties with the future of our country. They continue to deceive us over the nature of the EU project.  They won’t stand up for us.

We are the only moderate choice you have for a free and independent country.

Make the break.  Vote UKIP
